A wedding magnifies the loss of a parent, the missed opportunity to share one of life’s milestones. When a bride’s father is deceased, we recommend that she ask another male relative or friend to dance. Some brides in this situation choose to forgo the father/daughter dance. However, that makes the mother/son dance awkward. Should the groom’s mother give up dancing with her son? Other brides dance with their mother. To decide how to handle this situation, the bride needs to remain true to her heart; choosing to dance with someone with whom she feels comfortable. After all, this is HER day!
